In disposing of lightly used incontinence pads .10 years or so ago these were treated as clinical waste and burnt. nowadays everything goes in normal household waste into land fill. Is this correct? Surely this is not too hygenic and from my own use of two pads per day must create a hugh waste problem.
The disposal of incontinence supplies is a problem for the environment indeed. This is due to the nature of the goods and what they are made of (mostly plastic). The trend tends to go more towards reusable – Manufacturers start to understand the problem but the market will probably take quite a long time to adjust to these new environmentally friendly alternatives.
